I actually agree with @ Dave! We brought our American car over and bad idea! Not even 2 weeks after it arrived in the UK we wrecked it! It was a blind spot that you wouldn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t have had in a right hand drive car! It is very hard to drive here and scary in an American car with the blind spots! We actually live in a town next to a pub and the cops are basically hanging out on Friday and Saturday night waiting for you to leave!! It is not worth it!!

I love it here yes the weather changes but I think it is going to be amazing for you just as it is for me.

Should you wish to take up the subject, left hand drive cars and larger vehicles are not really suited to the UK and driving around RAF Mildenhall area.

The roads are narrow and are used by the farming industry which cause many safety issues for left hand driving vehicles, mostly when trying to over taking slow vehicles and having to pull out across the other side of the road, many accidents happen due to this minor issue and it would be recommended to any visiting persons who are living here to purchase the Highway Code booklet which explains every aspect of driving laws, parking and speed limits etc.

It also explains the Motorway (freeway) driving laws which can only be used by persons who hold a full driving license or international license.

The other issues would be to recommend getting involved with persons off base and in neighbourhoods. Due to RAF Mildenhall Closing access off to the public the base has become a closed environment and it has created a feeling of seperate lifestyles.

By joining in with activities, clubs or societies around where they live they will experience better cultural experiences and will enjoy their tour much more.

Weather. The British Weather is varied, and has been known to have all 4 seasons on one day. I would say to anyone that to enjoy everything you do and forget about the rain ruining your trips out. It is only water and will dry off eventually.. Which then raises the question that it helps to be a little eccentric when doing outdoor activities as we dont let weather spoil most aspects of our outdoor life.

Shops: Although the base has its own shopping facilities, the decline in personnel shopping off base has force many small businesses to close and if the visiting forces was to return to using off base shops when they are able to it would help sustain the economy that is mainly agricultural and elderly based.

I know that the exchange rate is never an easy thing to weigh up when purchasing things in local currency. It does however open up other avenues as far as fresh open air markets, cafes, restaurants, public houses (pubs) where darts, pool (8-ball) and sport TV are watch together over a few drinks. Oh, we do have cold beers as much as the traditional ales that are made from hops & barley.

Drink Driving is a big no-no and I would urge that the best policy is to say no drinking at all if driving, the law allows approximately 1 pint but it would be better to say avoid drinking alcohol if using a car?¢‚Ǩ¬¶ and also, do not drive the next day if people have had a few alcoholic drinks the day before as it stays in the system
